چکیده

This paper proposes an approach based on trajectory sensitivity analysis (TSA) to find most suitable placement of series compensators in the power system. The main objective is to maximize the benefit of these devices in order to enhance the rotor angle stability. This approach is formulated as a two-stage problem, whose first-stage describes prior to fault occurrence and whose second-stage represents the power system behavior involving a set of severe faults. The first-stage focuses on small signal stability, while the second-stage deals with transient stability of power system. In this vein, the trajectory sensitivities of the rotor angles of generators with respect to the reactances of transmission lines are calculated. Two equivalent rotor angles are introduced to find stability indices corresponding to the firstand the second-stage of the proposed approach. Numerical results from IEEE 10-machine 39-bus test system demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Helicopter Blade Stability Analysis Using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions

In the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Function. The conventional methods of aeroelastic stability usually use an iterative procedure while the present method does not require such approach. Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions are obtained by inverting dynamic stiffness matrix of the aeroelastic system. S...

Improving the stability of the power system based on static synchronous series compensation equipped with robust model predictive control

Low-frequency oscillations (LFO) imperil the stability of the power system and reduce the Capacity of transmission lines. In the power systems, FACTS devices and Power System stabilizers are used to improve the stability. Static synchronous series compensators is one of the most important FACTS devices. This paper investigates the damping of LFO with static synchronous series compensator (SSSC)...

Transient Stability Improvement of Multi-machine Power System using Fuzzy Controlled TCSC

Power system is subjected to sudden changes in load levels. Stability is an important concept which determines the stable operation of power system. In general rotor angle stability is taken as index, but the concept of transient stability, which is the function of operating condition and disturbances deals with the ability of the system to remain intact after being subjected to abnormal deviat...

Effects of geometrical and geomechanical properties on slope stability of open-pit mines using 2D and 3D finite difference methods

Slope stability analysis is one of the most important problems in mining and geotechnical engineering. Ignoring the importance of these problems can lead to significant losses. Selecting an appropriate method to analyze the slope stability requires a proper understanding of how different factors influence the outputs of the analyses. This paper evaluates the effects of considering the real geom...
